    KAREN DEMOSS, Director of the Institute for Urban Education and Associate Professor in Education Studies at The New School, focuses on education policy and reform. She has served as National Director for Research and Knowledge Development for New Leaders for New School, building organizational learning capacities, documenting adults’ learning, and assessing student outcomes. She also piloted university-school partnerships at The University of New Mexico where she was a faculty member in educational leadership. Her research interests lie in the intersection of how institutions, policies, and pedagogy ultimately impact learning and lives. Her Ph.D. is from the University of Chicago, where she also worked for 7 years at the Consortium on Chicago School Research. She has worked on many research and evaluation projects, from the impact of arts on student learning to effects of large-scale policy reforms. She is co-editor of Money, Politics, and Law and co-author of Effective Partnering for School Change and is author of numerous articles and reports. She currently oversees projects in college success and urban high school reform.
