    SHERICK HUGHES is a tenure track, Assistant Professor of Education at The University of Maryland at College Park. His research generally involves: (a) critical race studies and Black education; (b) social context of schooling and urban education; and (c) the interdisciplinary foundations of education. Dr. Hughes has several articles in acclaimed Education journals including, Urban Education, Education and Urban Society, and the International Journal of Inclusive Education. He has also published book chapters, and three books, including the 2007 AESA Critics’ Choice Award-Winning title with Peter Lang Publishers (PLP), Black Hands in the Biscuits Not in the Classrooms: Unveiling Hope in a Struggle for Brown’s Promise. And Hughes is the lead editor of a forthcoming PLP volume titled The Evolving Significance of Race: Living, Learning, and Teaching, co-edited with Dr. Theodorea Berry.
