    MICHAEL HANCHETT HANSON is a psychologist and director of the Masters Concentration in Creativity and Cognition at Teachers College. Dr. Hanson received his BA in architecture from Yale University and his PhD in developmental psychology from Teachers College. He is interested in the use of the construct of creativity by individuals and groups and how the construct affects cognition, self-concept and social systems. He has published on how educators can use the idea of creativity in the classroom and on the relation of cognitive linguistics and creativity. In the creativity and cognition concentration Dr. Hanson advises Masters students and teaches a course on creativity theories and research methods and a course on case study research. He is currently examining the social construction of creativity in particular domains, including education. In addition to his work at Teachers College, Dr. Hanson has a consulting practice in curriculum design and program evaluation, working with arts organizations, youth development programs, individual schools, boards of education and corporations.
