Education in Cyberspace, edited by Ray Land and Sian Bayne, attempts to provide a theoretical foundation on which educators may begin to discuss the impact of what the authors refer to as the technological paradigm shift taking place in our institutions of higher learning. For individuals looking for a “how to” guide to development for or teaching in the online classroom, you best look elsewhere. This text is devoted to exploring what Bayne and Land refer to as “more varied, and possibly richer, ways of theorizing the contexts and cultures of education in cyberspace…” in this under-theorized region of the educational landscape. At the heart of this text is a discussion, and obviously a concern, of how this “technological paradigm shift” could alter the systemic make up of higher education.     DAVID CILLAY is currently the Director of Instructional Development and Technology at Washington State University, Extended University Services. He holds an Affiliate Faculty appointment in the College of Education. His area of expertise is utilizing technology to enhance student learning, primarily the facilitation of interaction. In his role at WSU, he provides pedagogical consultation and implementation to enhance teaching and learning in various instructional environments and coordinates and teaches in a graduate certificate in Instructional Design Prior to his move back to WSU, Cillay served as the Senior Instructional Designer at the University of Idaho.
