Perspectives on Language and Literacy: Beyond the Here and Now, edited by Sarah Beck and Leslie Nabors Oláh, is a compilation of 18 seminal articles published in the Harvard Educational Review over the past four decades. An updated version of Minami and Kennedy’s 1991 collection Language Issues in Literacy and Bilingual/Multicultural Education, this book broadens the original collection with several more recent articles and a section on critical perspectives. The book’s four parts include: "Cognitive and Developmental Approaches to Language and Literacy," "Sociocultural Approaches to Language and Literacy,"... (preview truncated at 150 words.)
