Musings: Building Better Support Systems

The students who have had the most difficult time meeting even the more modest standards of the past need a better support system that reaches beyond the schoolhouse if they are going to attain higher standards. Formal education is about much more than what occurs in school. The neediest students require more of the kinds of experiences that equate with what comes almost automatically for children who live in homes where schooling is more readily reinforced.
