The question of continuities over time, that is, the interweaving of past, present, and future, and the relation of these continuities to the transformations of education are also considered.     Hope Jensen Leichter is Elbenwood Professor of Education and director of the Elbenwood Center for the Study of the Family as Educator at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her book, with William E. Mitchell, Kinship and Casework: Family Networks and Social Intervention was published in 1978 by Teachers College Press. She also edited The Family as Educator (Teachers College Press, 1976), and Families and Communities as Educators (Teachers College Press, 1979).
