Harap, Henry
George Peabody College for Teachers
HENRY HARAP works at the George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville.

Henry Harap & James E. Mendenhall - 1945
Consumer education is a part of the program of education for living. It aims to raise the level of individual and family living by a study of the important personal and social problems involved in choosing, buying, and using goods and services. Consumer education is a part of a consumer movement, the primary objective of which is to attain the highest possible level of living for all consumers.

Henry Harap - 1940
BROADLY SPEAKING, THE PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE consumer movement is to attain the highest level of living for all consumers. The movement, however, has concerned itself with more immediate goals. Most frequently, unwarranted increases in prices have been attacked. At the present the organized consumers are keeping a watchful eye on the rising curve of war prices.

Henry Harap - 1937
THE PROGRAM, which is the subject of Spending to save, was a distinctly new departure in governmental recovery and relief measures. In this respect, it was in sharp contrast with the policy of Mr. Hoover, who, in his first administration, did practically nothing to provide federal support for the unemployed and, who, in 1936-favored direct relief as opposed to work relief.

Henry Harap - 1936
THE EMERGENCE OF THE CONSUMER as a principal actor in the current social drama, is giving rise to a new orientation of the study of economics. It is from this new viewpoint that the author of the Economic Consequences of Power Production, which aroused widespread interest, revises his appraisal of the economic structure.

Henry Harap - 1936
Only a few of the fundamental books in curriculum-making discuss the subject of individual differences extensively. Franklin Bobbitt pointed out that recognition of individual differences was fundamental in curriculum-making. The limited abilities of the backward have to be determined and a low standard of achievement in these limited abilities has to be required. The activities of the several ability groups must differ and they must be set forth in separate curricula. Contrary to the usual practice, Bobbitt suggested that we must begin with the curriculum for the most advanced group; for the average group we must limit and modify the experiences of the gifted group; and for the subaverage group, the curriculum of the average group must be reduced and modified.

Henry Harap - 1923
It is to be expected that a population which enjoys at least eight rears of compulsory education should show a little intelligence in the daily habits of living. It is the opinion of the writer after considerable study that the schools of our nation do not teach our population to live effectively and that a revision of the curriculum is one of the important means of improving this condition. It is the purpose ol this paper to suggest a method of revising the curriculum in so far as it deals with some of the economic aspects of life.
