Education and Popular Culture
The Children and Childhood Studies Area of the Mid-Atlantic Popular and American Culture Association solicits proposals for the 2013 MAPACA Annual Conference in Atlantic City, NJ. The area focuses on the societal, cultural, and political forces which shape the lives of children and the concept of childhood. CCS research draws from the behavioral and social sciences as well as the arts. Papers in this area examine the impact of popular culture on children and childhood, representations of children in and the construction of childhood through popular culture, and the roles children and young adults take on as influencers and creators of popular culture.
