Call for Book Review Editor -JSSR
The Journal of Social Studies Research
Open call for Book Review Editor
In 2011, The Journal of Social Studies Research (JSSR) launched a book review section to allow scholars opportunities to write and submit scholarly reviews of recent books and monographs related to the field of social studies education. Thus far, books reviewed have included those focused on pedagogy as well as interesting perspectives on social studies content. The reviews were designed to encapsulate ideas and themes of the reviewed books and provide a contextual basis for how the books were situated in social studies education scholarship.
We are now searching for an interested faculty member to serve in the capacity of JSSR book review editor for a three-year term beginning in summer 2013. Preference will be given to those faculty members who have demonstrated scholarly activity and an interest in performing general duties of a book review editor. Furthermore, the book review editor will be expected to attend an annual JSSR meeting held at the International Society for the Social Studies Annual Conference in Orlando, FL. Successful editors must commit to the three-year term and be willing to maintain a supportive, consistent and ethical climate for submissions. This individual must work closely with the journal editor to ensure fidelity to the goals of the journal, while managing incoming manuscripts, soliciting new reviews and supporting authors with constructive and timely feedback. We invite any interested social studies education faculty members to submit a letter of interest that clearly explains intent and qualifications to JSSR editor, Dr. William B. Russell, III at Russell@ucf.edu.
Along with the letter of interest, be sure to include an updated vita and a letter of support from your Dean or Department Chair. Deadline for submitting all materials is February 1, 2013.
The decision to appoint the book review editor rests with the ISSS Advisory Board and JSSR Editorial Staff.
